Hello everyone! Thanks for taking time out of your day to come visit us here and read this article. Today, we will be reviewing the much-hyped game, Modern Warfare 2, for our Game of the Month review, December 2009.

Before we begin the review portion of this article, let's take a quick look at some information and stats about the game.

Modern Warfare 2 is available on the PlayStation 3, XBOX 360, and the PC systems. All versions have similar gameplay, though myself I've only played the PS3 version.

Stats-wise, in the 24 hours, according to our source [http://www.csmonitor.com/Innovation/Horizons/2009/1112/modern-warfare-2-sales-nuke-all-previous-records], the game brought in more than $310 million dollars! Those are some big numbers.

Let's hop to the review now, shall we?

Modern Warfare 2, released on November 10th quickly became one of the top games in the industry. Even before it's launch, the game gathered millions of fans who were waiting eagerly to purchase a copy for themselves.

The game features 3 game modes; Campaign, Spec Ops, and the popular Multiplayer. Each of the game modes is fun and relatively well-constructed. Of the three, multiplayer is the only one which doesn't contribute to gamers trophy collection (on PSN) or gamer score (XBL), however the majority of players purchase the game for multiplayer.

The campaign is well constructive in my opinion. Though, I have found certain missions redundant and the campaign isn't overly difficult even on veteran, which I have yet to complete. During each mission you have the opportunity to collect "Intel Items", laptops hidden throughout the game which once all collected, earn the player a trophy/gamer points. The intel isn't very difficult to find, and there are various tutorials and guides all over the internet which ease the process, but they're not overly blatant at the same time. Overall, the campaign gets a solid 9/10 from me. Good story line, a bit short, good action.

Spec Ops is a new game mode added as an addition to the game, just like Call of Duty 5's Nazi Zombies. Each Spec Ops mission is different; some of them require stealth, others require brute force, and some require tactic. This game mode will no doubt receive some DLC to add additional missions. The missions are mostly short and sweet, but offer a lick of difficulty at the same time. The only downfall to this game mode that I've noticed is the online two-player mode. It's insanely laggy to the point where it's impossible to play. Some haven't encountered this, but I sure hope it gets fixed in the next patch. Spec Ops gets an 8/10 from me. -1 point for the online multiplayer lag, and -1 for the short missions. This is definitely a game mode to desire, nonetheless.

And the last section of the review, multiplayer. There are several different game types online; Team Deathmatch, Demolition, Search and Destroy, 3rd Person Tactical, and more. Team deathmatch is the most played – fight to the death, killing the enemy players until your team reaches 7500 points (75 kills). 3rd person game modes are a new addition to the game. Rather than shooting from the soldiers perspective, you are now looking from and over-the-shoulder perspective. I personally enjoy this game mode, although beware campers. New to MW2 also is the ability to choose your killstreaks. From UAVs to predator missiles to helicopters to nukes – killstreaks offer a unique way to dominate the battlefield. The ultimate killstreak, the Tactical Nuke, is obtained after a 25 killstreak. Obtaining and using this killstreak will indefinitely end the game and win the match for your team.

Aside from the additions, weapon attachments and weapon camos return, unlocked by getting kills, headshots and using other attachments. Attachments include grips, red dot sights, grenade launchers, thermal sights and more.

The multiplayer experience is an enjoyable one if you can avoid raging like I tend to. Unless of course you're winning, in which case it's almost always fun. This game mode gets a 9/10 from me. Great gameplay, with annoying killstreak rewards, accounts for a good online experience.

If you're looking for a game with high levels of action, a solid single player campaign, awesome single player missions and awesome multiplayer, Modern Warfare 2 is definitely the game for you! Pick up a copy for your console or PC of choice for $59.99 in most areas!

Someone is going to die now that Uncharted didn't get the recognition it deserves.
